Back in July.....
My baby boy turned EIGHT!
I can't believe how fast he is growing up!
Nathan has been pretty much into his bike this year and loved taking bike rides with Mom (who was training for her mini triathlon). So what he wanted was a new helmet and bike basket.
I took a girly basket and spray painted it gold and Nathan liked it so much that he wanted his helmet gold as well.
That night we went to Grandpa and Grandma Walker's house to have some sloppy joe's (Nathans picks) and have cake and ice cream. For his cake Nathan just wanted a "bike" cake. I tried to use cake decorating spray to get his cake gold too....trying to carry on a theme!
Nathan was so excited to get his lego set from his Aunt Rose and Uncle Derek, his face says it all!
We forgot the rest of our "wrapped" presents at home so when we got home Nathan finished unwrapping his presents. It's still hard to believe that my little baby boy is now 8 years old!

Father's Day
Back in June....
For Father's Day I made some t-shirts for Travis for his gift. He is always in need of some new t-shirts! Here is just one of the 3 that I made!
We found sayings online and then we used freezer paper to stencil it onto the t-shirts. I found it on pinterest! (What don't I find on there?)
For those that don't know my husband, it describes him to a "T".
I couldn't have found a better man to be the father of my children!

Summer T-ball
Back in June.....
We signed up the boys to play t-ball. At first (before they began to play) they were really excited and said that they really really really wanted to play! So I signed them up.....
Well I should have known....they hated it! I'm not sure if it were a little cooler if they would have enjoyed it more or just the fact that it was a more "slower" game but they were not big fans and by the second set of games we were dragging them out there and making them play. Hopefully trying to instill the "you started it, so now you finish it" attitude.
Nathan and Kimball were on the same t-ball team which was nice and Brandon was on an adaptive t-ball team that ranged from different ages from 6 to 60.
We practiced the night before with catching and Brandon did really well for his first time playing, but it turns out...that was a more "advanced" skill and so he never improved during the season.....
He did have a tendency to sit down in the outfield and wait....
On this particular game with Kimball and Nathan, while waiting for it to start, Nathan fell asleep! It took him a little bit to wake up and get more into the game.
Both boys didn't see the need to actually run to the base or between the bases. Kimball's coach had to pretend to be the tickle monster to get him to go, while Nathan did a slow jog.
Dad was a big help during the season because he was there to help in the outfield to help Nathan and Kimball stay on task and help them not sit down.
Brandon's games were always before the other two's so he was usually bored during their game and so brought paper and pen to make some sort of list while his brothers played.
Will we play t-ball again next year? Well we certainly have the mits to play, but no I don't think we will unless they convince me that it is something they REALLY want to do!

Hoogle Zoo
Back in June.....
One of Kimball's last field trip was a trip to the Salt Lake Hoogle Zoo. We went in the morning and then in the afternoon Grandma and Grandpa Walker and Uncle Wayne and Aunt Melissa came in the afternoon too!
Kimball was in a grumpy mood most of the day for who knows what reason. But I was able to get a few good pictures!
Kimball wanted to take a pictures with Daddy's "favorite animal".
We got to take a ride on the carousel at the zoo. Unfortunately we weren't able to be all together but Aunt Melissa was able to grab a few shots!
We got to ride on the zoo train as well! We were able to sit all together too which was fun.
We ended our trip to the zoo at the play ground where both kids and adults were able to play!
*Only minor sunburns were received on this day due to forgetting the sunblock.

Playing Catch Up
As you can tell, I have been missing all summer long. I've had a post here and there, but I swear the Hendrix family did not drop off the face of the earth! So now that school has started, I now have time to go back and finish updating!
Back in June.....
Kimball was still going to school, but every day they got to go outside and swim! So one day I took Nathan and Brandon with me to volunteer and we played!
It was a fun afternoon and thanks to swimming everyday Kimball developed a nice tan that lasted all summer and helped prevented sunburns!

Vintage Turning Modern
I know that I have been kinda absent this summer, but what do I (you) expect when you have 3 very active boys? But I haven't been twiddling my thumbs all this time, but have been working hard on some quilts! I am pleased to announce my latest quilt, Vintage Turning Modern! I used the line from Bonnie and Camille, Vintage Modern. Can you believe that I came up with the name before the quilt design?
You can find this on the Moda Bake Shop. I had this idea for this block for some time. I got the idea from my favorite food, pizza! You basically just cut (and then sew) it like you would a pizza!
When I showed my mom this (before it was done) she automatically claimed it for herself! So I think that already it's a big hit! I love the colors! I have slowly come around to the red and aqua colors but I love how this adds some greens, creams and most of all pink!
This is definitely is my top 10 favorite quilts!! What do you all think (yes, I am fishing for compliments!!)
