Last Minute Christmas Projects

I wanted to share some last minute projects that I have been working on trying to get done before Christmas.

First I wanted to share a picture of our family Kitty helping me with all of the Giveaway entering on SewMamaSew! She was quite interested in what I was doing.

I started making Christmas stockings like I said before using Amy's Creative Side Tutorial.  It took me awhile just because of everything but finally on Christmas Eve they are finished and HUNG!

I ended up hand embroidering all our names on them. I LOVE how they turned out!

Than back when we were moving in September/October I had a friend come help me clean our old place. I can't just take service (I have issues) so I said I would do things for her in return. So we went to Joannes and bought fabric for me to make her boys some warm quilts for Christmas.
They are now finally done!! NEVER AGAIN will I quilt fleece, 2 LAYERS of batting and flannel! It was a nightmare and to top it off it did something to my sewing machine so now I can't use my darning foot. :( The tension is WAY WAY off and I end up with tons of extra thread on bottom. Top looks great but turn it over and yuck. I have played with the tensions and cleaned my machine. Not 100% sure what else to do now so I will have to research it. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know! I have a Juki TL98Q.
Our Kitty was sad to see the blankets leave since she thought they were the best little napping place!

Than before the kids were let out on Winter break I needed to hurry and make Birthday invitations for Brandon. We are going to have a Minecraft themed party. We are inviting 5 boys, and one boy he handed the invite to tore it up! Oh I was so sad and mad! I wanted to march over to that boys house and give him a good telling off. Than the boys friend who was invited as well told Brandon he can't come. I am worried that no little boy will show up! Thankfully we are having cousins come but I thought we were making big progress in the social area and it turns out that no...we aren't. I will have to let everyone know how the party turns out after News Years.

Than I received my first giveaway prize! I won three in total :D This is from Cristali Designs! I LOVE the little doll and the earrings. This was one of my favorite giveaways. I've already worn the red earrings and I love them.

Currently my sewing area is right here in the dining room. Our computer room/sewing room is still full of boxes. Hopefully I can get that changed here right after Christmas so that I can start quilting! I am starting to get my mind rolling on different quilts and stuff that I want to make.

I hope everyone has a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR! It has been a difficult/stressful/joyful/wonderful year! And I can't wait to see what the next year will bring us!

Sew Mama Sew Giveaway

Yeah Finally I have made it! I have been trying to stay in touch to do the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway for a year now and I finally did it!

I must say that just having a baby (and being pregnant for the last 9 months) has been hard on me! But I am so happy to finally be feeling like quilting again! I am laying awake at night again thinking of the different projects I want to make! This is what I think I am going to try to squeeze in before Christmas this year. I found it on Pinterest and just love them! They have just enough quilting goodness to it I think!

It's from an awesome lady that lives close to me here in Utah, Amy from Amy's Creative Side.  She is so awesome!

Well shall we see what I am giving away??? I wish it was something a little bit more awesome....but as I said I just had a baby! But if people like scraps I have bags and bags of them!!

1.
100 charm pieces that come in a variety of teals and yellows! (Sorry I wish I was better with the camera so I could show you the real colors of it!)

2.
2 - 1/2 yards of Windham Fabric Strawberry Picnic

3.
Several hundred little 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" squares! I have started cutting up my scraps into 2 1/2" squares to use in various projects and what not and I found a little bag while moving with these little guys. There is about 20 different fabric prints but I am not 100% sure.

Now how to enter...1 entry for each thing.

1. Leave a comment telling me what your making this Christmas season.
2. Follow my blog.
3. Tell me your favorite quilt pattern.

There ya go! Simple and easy! Leave a comment for each item so you can get a total of 3 different entries! I will draw three different winners on Friday at 9pm MST using Random.org and email the winners asap. I will then ship it all out by the 20th (a lot sooner probably).

Feel free to take a look at my CRAZY life with 3 4 boys and what I try to accomplish!

If you have any questions let me know!!

P.S. Make sure that your email is connected to your profile or you leave me a way to email you...I'm not a detective and lets be honest I don't want to spend hours trying to find my winners! So if there is a "no reply" and there is not an email linked to their profile I will select a new winner!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Welcome Baby Hendrix

On November 15th at 12:49 pm we welcomed the newest Hendrix boy into our family!
Little Lincoln Cooper! He was 7 lbs 13 oz and 20 " long. I thought he would have been bigger but still a nice size.

He is doing wonderful and is such a good baby! The only time he has cried is when he has little gas bubbles in his tummy or being circumcised!
His brothers love him to pieces and are so happy to have him home and out of Mommy's tummy!
When he does start crying to let us know that he is hungry, Kimball runs around the house yelling "baby alert"!
These boys are such a big help and don't hesitate to bring Mom a diaper or grab a blanket for me.

I feel so lucky to have all of my boys and I love being the "Princess" in the group! Now that I am no longer pregnant and am feeling somewhat normal again....well I'm getting to be normal again, I finally feel like quilting (and man is my list long) as well as updating my blog! Man do I have tons to update! Since I use this blog as a journal of sorts I want to add EVERYTHING that I have missed in oh...the last year! Maybe I can post date it or something, or just throw up collages and a little explanation. It's not like I did a whole lot in the last 9 months or took many pictures...but we did move into our first house! So there will be somethings.

I'm just excited to be back and can't wait until I can get my sewing machine set up and I can start sewing again! It was worth being pregnant for 9 months to get this beautiful little boy, but man am I happy not to be pregnant anymore!

Oh Where, Oh Where did Mommy go?

Oh where, oh where did Mommy go?? What a good question!!

Well it began with this in the beginning of March....
Then that led to a lot of time here....

And if I wasn't found in my bed I could be found here...

The pregnancy has been going well but not the greatest. I haven't been throwing up all the time like I did with  my first two pregnancies but I did get a nice ear virus in the beginning that left me able to do nothing but sit and lay down or I would fall down! Dang vertigo.

Then after that I have been battling with no motivation and no desire to do dittly squat. I have not quilted in 4 1/2 months expect in absolute in absolute necessity, which surprisingly is was about none!

Then today I found out this...

We are welcoming in our fourth little baby boy into our family. I am not going to lie and say that I was 100% happy with this discovery but I am glad to have another little boy.

Today I went through a bunch of different highs and lows and it all has to do with that little stick between his legs. All of the boys were very disappointed with this new discovery. Brandon was in tears for the rest of the visit, and Nathan was in shock for a good 15 minutes.

I was okay for most of the day and then this afternoon I crashed! I started crying for the lose of my phantom baby girl. I suddenly thought all the hard times I have been through these past months such as  living in a messy home, cooking barely at all and going through the wonderful emotional hormone roller coaster. I was upset that I was doing this all again for another boy. Then was mortified at that thought that entered my mind.  I wasn't angry that I didn't have a girl but sad, but then I got angry because I was sad.

After telling Travis all my thoughts he became the sweetest and kindest through this pregnancy and laughed at me. He said that he knew how I was feeling and that it was okay and apologized for laughing at me! Now Trav has been good through this pregnancy but there has been a definitively a lack of sympathy or support during this 4th pregnancy. He loves me dearly and I know that but all those concerns for my back aches and stomach aches have gone on a hike. I wonder if this is common with most dads.

I know that as soon as this baby is ready to make it's appearance in  November I will love this child and as much as any new mother but for now I can be sad for my phantom girl.

One good thing that has happened from today (to leave a positive note)...

I started quilting for the first time since all of this happened. I would like to finish this by the 15th and I think I can do it.
(my next Moda Bake Shop project)

I guess what I needed all along was my sewing machine to calm my troubled emotions.

Kissing Stars

I am pleased to share another Moda Bake Shop quilt....Kissing Stars!

I was able to use the line Flirt by Sandy Gervais. I just love the colors in it!
This is definitely one quilt that I am keeping for myself! It is already sitting on my bed being used!
Trav loves it because I made it long enough that we can tuck it in at the end of the bed and it won't come un-tucked! He is such a weirdo when it comes to his covers in bed!

I hope you all enjoy it! It's a fast and simple block that once combined is adorable!

Teacher Appreciation Week

This week was Kimball's teacher appreciation week at his school. After giving a lot of these people something every year for 4 different years, I am drawing up a blank!

Now don't get me wrong, I have a pinterest board dedicated to teacher appreciation ideas, but it just seems that when I get down to it, time and life make it difficult. So I came up with this...
I went to Home Depot and bought a small flower plant and terracotta planter, used some left over dowels from my curtain project, added a note and picture....and there you have it! I do apologize for the picture....I am lousy at taking pictures and even when I'm taking them I think they look good but when I get them on my computer....blah!
I got a total of 12 plants and planters. 11 went to teachers and staff and 1 was for me! At first I wasn't going to get one, but then thought...why not!

Then Kimball got out of school early today and so we had a play date with some boys in his class. I did have a cool picture of them walking hand in hand out of the school and in the van on the way to our house...but there was an accident and I deleted them. :(
We did play other things, but I couldn't resist taking one of them playing Trav's computer! We seem to turn everyone to computers! Maybe it's because Trav has a really nice computer? But we took turns playing computer - every 15 minutes we would switch....
We even got the ipad into the mix. The boys did have a great time today! Although I think Kimball didn't realize that having friends over was a little harder than he thought. I mean he had to share a lot more and take a LOT more turns! Oh well, we will definitely do this again in the near future!

Happy Happy Happy

I'm so excited to show you my latest Moda Bake Shop quilt!
Happy Happy Quilt! But the best part of this quilt is you can make it "H" stand for anything you want!!
Originally I had created a "Happy Halloween" style and was going to use Halloween fabric, well that panned out....then I found this wonderful fabric from Pat Sloan, "Eat Your Fruits and Veggies".
I then had the idea to make it a "Happy Harvest" themed quilt with it being during the fall time and that's when your garden is ready. But things lead to this and that and we weren't able to have it posted in the Fall, so we changed it to the "Happy Happy" quilt! But see how you can change the "H" to stand for anything that starts with an "H"?
I do have to admit that the "H" also stands for our last name, Hendrix.
This is a fun and simple quilt! It didn't take too long to put together and is a perfect size lap quilt!

It has already found a home with Brandon's previous Speech Teacher. She came to our home every week for a year to help Brandon. She was wonderful, sweet and kind! So I gave her this quilt at Christmas so that she could always remember us!

Almost there....

Well I am almost caught up with all of the different major and minor events that happened in 2012. It just took me two months! So here is some more mish-mash of pictures.....

Back before school started we went to carnival put on my our bank. My sister in law, Melissa works for them and invited/reminded me of this event. Travis stayed home and me and the boys went. I am rather glad Trav stayed home (after we were there) due to the fact that it was so crowded! Trav doesn't do very well in crowds (boys too) and so I am glad he didn't go and add more stress to his life.
There were a lot of different booths selling and educating from the local college. There was also a lot of bounce houses we played on (meaning the boys).
We then got some free popcorn and cotton candy and rode a cute little indoor train. After about 2 hours we called it quits and went home.
Before leaving I made sure we got a picture with Aunt Melissa! She is so good to my boys and has the tons of patience with them! Giving them hugs and accepting any social interaction on their terms! It's nice to have supportive family members!

I love how inventive and "buildy" my boys are! Here we are at the doctors office and Brandon creates an  airplane! He is awesome at creating different lego projects!
At the same doctors' office, Nathan is making a plastic canvas my little pony for Kimball. Nathan is my crafter! No glue gun, tape or paper is safe with him around! He is constantly creating! He wants to be an artist when he gets older.

Back during the summer when I took pictures, I thought of cool blog posts that I would create....well life happened and the blog posts didn't happen!  This is a rain day that we spent playing legos, running errand and eating out.
The boys were so cute walking into Wal-Mart together holding hands! They do truly love each other and are always helping each other out! Then we went to Artie Circle for lunch. They had a play area that the boys could stretch their legs out in.
Kimball was being a stinker, Nathan was happy and bubbly and of course found a baby right away to follow. Then Brandon was just happy to be out of the house and after checking out the "play area" chilled next to me.

Then finally I wanted to share pictures from election day. I volunteered at Kimball's school and then in the afternoon took Brandon with me to go vote. We are lucky and the area was just across the street from us. Since Brandon was being home schooled at the time, I thought it was a good way to show him our government in action. He wasn't that impressed....it was boring!
Even though my President candidate didn't win, I will hope that the country will be lend with wisdom. Time will only tell.

Yeah now I am officially updated with everything in 2012....oh wait. I just remembered, Thanksgiving, Festival of Trees, and Christmas. Okay so not there yet but I'm almost there!
