Lost tooth

Yeah!! Nathan as finally reached the point where he is now loosing his teeth!! He is kind of a late bloomer in this area - I mean he has a 5 year old cousin that has already lost her first tooth! Oh well, can't do anything about it right?

It was very unfortunate that the Tooth Fairy was too busy to stop by that night *cough, cough* but she did make up for it the next night by leaving $2 instead of just $1.
We did have a scare, Brandon heard me talking to Trav about it, and now Brandon is on the verge of "not believing" which makes me sad! But alas he is getting older and unfortunately our believe in these things fades.

Quilted Bag Swap

I participated in a Quilted Bag Swap this Spring. I couldn't resist! I have been trying to cut back on some of the things that I sign up for, just because I am running out of time! I think I have all the time in the world to do things, and it turns out I don't! But I did decide to do this.
My partner said that she liked fall colors. Believe it or not, I don't have much of those!! I did however make a wall quilt a while ago with some charm packs that I won in a giveaway, and there was enough to make this. I decided to do a simple patchwork.
The inside is plain. It's only about 17x20. They said to use it as a craft bag or whatever...but it's small but an okay size. It can be used as a small purse.
I also sent this charm pack along as a small gift.
I hope she likes it. I sent it all the way to Norway! I have never sent anything that way before. (Please excuse my stained ironing board!)
I received my package about 2 weeks ago. I was having a rough day and receiving this turned my day around! What can I say, I love receiving mail! (The good kind too....no bills)
I received this cute little thing!! I did ask to have something more modern in fabric, something I wouldn't be ashamed to take out in public! I think my lady did very well!!
I love how the chairs match the inside! I ended up using this as a purse when I went to see Les Miserable. (Previous post) and I am pleased to say it did a good job!
I also received this little gift as well....
It turned out to be a fold-a-way grocery bag! Isn't it awesome! I have always wanted one like this! Small enough to keep in your purse, and then you can pull it out when needed!
Then you also have this small pouch too! (This is the part that you fold the bag into, but while using it, you can use it as a small pouch!)
Mine came all the way from Australia! I have sent her a thank you card, but unfortunately with the mail she proably won't receive it for another 2 weeks. Oh well.

I am very glad that I decided to join this. It was a simple fast project that I whipped up in one day. So maybe this means I will do more in the future...who knows!

Les Miserables

Yesterday I went with a friend to see Les Miserables. I have loved this musical since I was a teenager! I have never been to a Broadway show before, and was thrilled that I was invited!

We went to Salt Lake City and watched it at the State Capital.
 Zac (Jenni's son), Jenni, Me
 Me and Jenni
Zac and Jenni (Zac is such a good kid! I had a lot of fun talking to him and hang out with him!)
I had a great time! I thought all the performers did a great job! The only problem I had was being cold!! I didn't bring a sweater and I wish I had, but other than that...it was great! Thanks Jenni for bringing me!!

I Spy Swap 2

***We are now full!! IF you want to be an alternate please let me know, just in case someone can't do it. Thanks everyone!***

I want to thank Care from Obsessively Stitching for her wonderful advice and inspiration!! These are her instructions (edited a tiny bit) and I wanted to stay as close to them as possible since hers are always a success!

THE BASICS:

Mail 200 I-Spy squares to me by June 20th.
Get 200 I-Spy squares back, all different, by July 1st.
I have heard that having a tight schedule on these swaps help! But this gives you at least 3 weeks to get the fabric and mail it to me! And you receive your fabric back within 2 weeks!
PLEASE be sure you can meet the deadlines BEFORE you sign up!

THE DETAILS:

1. The first 38 people to comment are in. [If you live outside the U.S., no problem -- but please mail your fabrics a little earlier so there's plenty of time to meet the deadline!]
***I have decided that the lowest number would be 38, but depending on how interested people are, I will add another swap making this a 3 group swap. If you want to join more than one that is okay- just make sure that you have 20 (30) different fabrics.***
2. Cut 20 4" squares out of each of 10 different (depending on how many groups you want to be in, you will need more) novelty print fabrics. A 1/4-yard cut or fat quarter will get you 20 4" squares, so you will be purchasing a total of about 2 1/2 yards of fabric. This is NOTHING when you think about all the different squares you will be getting back!

3. In order to avoid duplicates, everyone will need to search out unusual or obscure prints. Look for things that aren't available at chain stores. But, please, pick FUN ones! If you love it, the other swappers will love it too!

4. Remember that we are looking for fabric with objects on it, not printy-prints. (A fabric with FLOWERS on it is very different from a FLORAL PRINT.)

5. No "licensed" prints: No Disney, Dora, L.A. Lakers, etc.

6. Remember seam allowances! Be sure you can tell what you are looking at within a 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" square. Nobody wants only half of an object in their square -- cut them well! (Depending on your fabric choice, you may need to buy more than 1/4 yard in order to get an object into each cut square.)
7. When sending the fabric you will need to sort your piles - meaning you will pile up 20 different pieces, and then sort them into 10 different piles. This is the only way I can do 2- 3 group swap! Other wise it will take me 12+ hours to sort them all!
If you want to join me in this obsession, leave a comment here that
includes your email address
!!

Remember: The FIRST 38 (57) who comment are IN! (If you join more than one group you could end up with 200 or 400 or 600 different squares)
*IF by chance we don't make it to the full double swap, or triple
we'll do a single swap with the first 19 and save the rest
of the swappers for the next swap.

SERIOUS SWAPPERS ONLY...
Please read the guidelines before signing up!

If you are wondering what you could do with these i-spy squares, check out Obsessively Stitching, there are TONS of wonderful crafts and quilts that Care has created!

I am so excited for this!!! It will be so much fun!

Helping Mom

While I was home (a few weeks ago now) I was able to help my Mom with some quilts.
This is a quilt that she had started a while ago and just needed to be quilted
I pinned it for her, got a basic quilting design ready, started and then let her finish!!
I really wished I had my sewing machine with my darning foot. I like my quilting a lot, but alas next time.
This was such a huge quilt that I found it hard to get a full picture of it.
Then I help my Mom put this quilt together. It was a Cluck, Cluck, Sew pattern. But we didn't end up putting it together right, but oh well, I think it looks good! This is for my Grandpa's new wife, Sally.
We didn't get time to actually quilt it, and if my Mom hasn't finished quilting it by the time I come out again in July, I will quilt it for her. But it is all pinned and ready to go, I thought it looked really cute hanging in the window. I want to say the fabric is Sunkissed by Moda.

Zayne's Baby Blessing

In our religion we do a baby blessing, where we give him his name and a blessing. Some other religions do a christianing or a baby baptism. So after the Baby Blessing we had a nice little BBQ. Family and Friends came to share our joy and happiness. Of course we took TONS of pictures.
 Little Zayne
Since we were all nice and dressed up before church, we decided to grab a few pictures.

I had to bribe my boys with candy to get them to smile, Brandon wasn't happy to begin with, but cheered up.
We then went outside to grab a few...
Nathan was cold and upset....yeah lets just say Church was interesting.
We then got some pictures with Jenni and her family....
We have Chris, Zayne, Cade, Jenni, Zoey and then Calli
Don't they all look really nice?? I think they look very good!
After church we came home changed and started cooking. The kids all went out to play while the adults started to chat and get lunch on.
This is my twin brother Jeff and his little daughter, Dalli.
I took my little brother's daughter Payten. She is so cute! Although she wasn't so sure of me to begin with.
 I don't want a girl....yeah right!
It ended up being a nice day so that the kids could play. It was cloudy but worked out.
This is my Grandpa's new wife, Sally and Zayne.
It was nice to see the older kids take care of the little ones and watch over them.
Here is Jeff and his wife, Charrity and Dalli. This is Dallie's silly face..the cheese face!
Their whole family, Morgan, Jeff, Dalli, Mason, Charrity and Wyatt.
Amber, Payten and Joe. Joe is my little brother.
My little sister, Catie and her boyfriend Greg.
Then we all had the brilliant idea to get the kiddos together and take a picture of them all there...since its updated and we had everyone...
Here are some of the "behind the scenes" of us mom's getting the kids ready.
Now Charrity getting the kids together....
 Quick take the picture!!!
No matter how many we take, not everyone is looking at you....and trust me we took a LOT!
Then here Brandon has finally had enough! That was the end now.....

We had tons of pictures that we took that day, and too bad I couldn't have shared them all!
