Brandon and Nathan's first day of school

Brandon started second grade and Nathan started first grade last Wednesday. I can't believe how big they are getting!!!

They are both going to the same school now! Although we are really concerned about Nathan and hope that he can handle going to a main stream class this year.

This is their "silly" face one, so that I could get them to take a good one!

Aren't they adorable!

Brandon LOVES Sponge Bob right now and was very excited to wear his new shirt to school.

He is modeling now what grade he is going into!

We have a weighted turtle that sits in his lap to help him sit still. He has taken is turtle to school to help him

He was so excited!

Here is Brandon waiting in his spot to go to his class. He was so excited that he was talking loud and laughing (I was really worried because the kids were already giving him some really weird looks, but after speaking to his teacher that is normal for the kids this age)

He has a friend in his class that he goes to church with, Josh...he calls him his "buddy"! I am so excited that he has a friend! He has been very nice to Brandon so far, so I have some high hopes for this! (If you don't already know, Brandon has Aspergers Syndrome and has a lot of problems with social situations and do to this he has a VERY hard time making and keeping friends)

Here is Nathan waiting for school to start in his spot for his class. He was so scared and made me stay with him until his teacher came out. My poor baby!

By this time we put on his vest, it is just a presser thing. We put it on his chest and it gives him a very tight hug. It calms him down when he gets anxious!

Here he is with his teacher. He did end up having a good first day, but had some problems with the calendar, apparently he didn't want it up and took it down while the teacher was out! But since then he has been doing a lot better. Which is good I just want him to succeed and do well in his class! He also has said that he has made a few friends, although when he wants a friend he can get them pretty easily, the tricky part is when "he" wants them.

Both the boys will have Speech Therapy at school. Brandon will work on learning social cues and reading faces of his peers and Nathan will work on his speech problems that he has. Also both the boy's teachers have worked VERY well with me so far! I am also working on making the boys a social story ( not sure how to explain it....it is a picture book showing the boys appropriate behavior and actions that they will perform, it helps with anxiety for them as well as helps them know what to expect).

DQS9 sent....

Last week I sent off my quilt!! I felt a huge relieve getting it done and sending it out!!!
I had some fun writing some fun things on the back.

All ready to go....one large envelope! Okay so I was too cheep to try and put it into a box!

Look how thick it was!

Well my partner received it! Megan received it and LOVED it!!

See how pretty it looks on her wall??? Doesn't it fit in nicely!!!

I am so glad she liked it!! Now I can just wait patiently for my package! Also I need to figure out where I am going to put my version of this blanket!! I would LOVE to create this type of thing on my wall!! So DQS10 I am SOOO in if they let me again!!

Family History Monday

At the beginning of the year I started doing some Family History questions on Monday! Then I lost track of it all and stopped doing it! But now I am going back to it so that I have it written down! So here we go it again!

Who were your friends growing up?
When we lived on the ranch until 5th grade, I had a friend that lived down the dirt road, Camy. She was a good friend and then I don’t know if it was because we were little but we went in and out of being friends a lot. I had a good friend Krista Oposensky through Middle School and Jr High. But in High School my main friends were Katie King, Julie Christensen and Nicole Burke. We hung out a lot on the weekends and we went to church together. Towards the end of High School Nicole moved away, but to this day I am still very good friends with Katie.

How would you describe your spouse? What do you admire most about them?
If I were to describe my husband to someone I would say that he is a 6’0 tall bald man that has a nice six pack. He has a geeky look and loves computers!! This man I am completely attracked to and LOVE!!!  One thing that he taught me when we first were married was to always look for the good in someone or something. I was very negative first but now I find myself looking for good in people and things. I also love how he is completely willing to help me whenever I need it. He is very good to drop things and help me out! I could go one, but I think what I might admire most is how good of a father he is! He tries very hard to be a good dad and I appreciate it!

How did you find out you were going to be a parent for the first time?
I started getting car sick, which is completely off for me and Travis thought that I might be pregnant. We were trying for awhile. So we got a test and it showed that I was!!

Projects, projects and more projects!!!

Travis has a good friend he made at work and he is getting married this weekend. At his bachelor party there was a guy there that Travis would love to get a job with and they spent most of the evening talking about their business and they are trying to create an opening for him (Travis lost his job about 2 weeks ago). So out of a fit of happiness and excitement for Trav being able to talk with a hopefully future boss....I said that I would make Jared (his friend) a quilt for their wedding!!! Why do I do this to myself?? So I came up with this for him....something simple and easy and quick for me to do!!!

I don't know what the name of this is, but I have wanted to make one like this for some time.

I have all 66 blocks sewn together....

I just need to cut them all and press them open....

This is what my desk area looks like right now!!!

I have scraps from this quilt....and some squares for April's pinwheel ready to be sewn together....

Just no area for cutting....but it's okay I will make room soon.....

Does anyone's desk look like this ever? Please tell me it does on a regular basis!!!

Also does anyone know the name of this type of quilt? Also any good name suggestions for this quilt?

(I love asking for help and know people will come through for me!!)

Where do I get it from??

Some may wonder where I get my quilting bug from.....my MOTHER!! Although she is amazed at how much I have done this past year, she was the one that was always quilting something while I was younger. Now she is passing on projects to me and giving some of her stash of fabric to me! (No complaints here)

Here is what my Mom made recently for my Sister in law that is due October...
They are having a little girl....

Isn't it adorable?? She did it in her colors!

Now the one things she still needs is a diaper bag so I am going to try and make her one!! So if anyone knows a good diaper bag tutorial let me know!

Springville Quilt Show

On Saturday I decided to be ambishish and take both Brandon and Nathan to a Quilt show nearby. Since Nathan has been in such a quilting frame of mind....meaning he asks me to sew every day! We did a quick (and quick because Nathan was screaming and touching all of the quilts) walk through and I was able to snap a few pictures of some quilts that I liked.
This had just some plain white blocks that had quilted flowers. It was very pretty, and I might just have to try it one day!!

This reminded me of an irish type of quilt. Very pretty, but look at all of that patchwork!!!

I really liked this scrap color quilt!! It looks very awesome!! I should try to find and see if anyone has a type of pattern for this!! :D It is very pretty!! And a GREAT way to use up all of those scraps that I have!

I am going to go again on Wednesday night with some family and maybe I can get a close look at the quilts again.

The boys start school on Wednesday and so that means I can finally start getting time to quilt!!! YEAH!!! I have some moda projects that I need to start working on!

Batman Girl

I was watching my friend Annie's daughter the other day. She is about 6 months older than Kimball. I just love her. She is so sweet! But she loves the boy's costumes!! So when she came over she immediately found this and put it on!
(Love the duck tape on the mask?? After it being repaired so many times I though that this might make it work better)

So cute!!!

Crazymomquilts Summer Quilt Along

I finish Amanda Jean's Summer Quilt Along last week. I don't know what was with it, but I just had a hard time getting it done and working on it. I thought I might of had enough to make it bigger, but nope just enough for a twin. I really do like it. Now that it is done. Nathan was yet again really excited about it and is happy that we are "keeping" it.
I do have some left over patches that I think I might make into a wall quilt or maybe use for the back of the quilt. Not 100% sure. But I can finally add this to the pile of ready to quilt tops.

Had to add my little piggies!

Oh I just think it is very pretty! I made it with all of my scraps. I choose to use a white with blue as the background. It gives it more of a country look.

Brandon was so kind and helped me model it! He is very excited for it too. They enjoy all of my quilt!

Ants

Does anyone have problems like this???
This is after I sprayed the crud out of them

We have set out the little trays, tried putting some seed/grains things on the grass. No luck with anything.

These pictures were taken just outside our back door. We have been living in our current home for 3 years now and we have had them all this time. I hate it! So any advice would be nice and greatly appreciated!

Kimball's art work

I thought we were done with coloring on the walls and all I had to deal with was the dirty hand prints and anything else they got on their hands. But the other day Kimball decided that our plain white walls needed sprucing!
I thought that if he washed his mess that he would be "discouraged" to do it again

Please excuse his "naked" body. We are still in the process of potty training. Although since this time, we have been clean all day for 4 days straight.

I think he was having more fun washing the walls than he did coloring them

Such a silly boy!
