Feburary Quilting Bee Blocks

This is Rene's month for me! I had her Round Robin block as well as her Quilting Bee block this month! I just finished her Quilting Bee block. She asked for crosses of our own design and she sent us some pretty fabric to work with.

I was inspired by a cross that I saw at the RLDS building several years ago. It was a large wooden cross made up of tons of different wood from all over the world. It was very pretty. So this is what I came up with.
This was my original design that I thought about but when I was finished with, it didn't look exactly how I remembered the RLDS cross looked. So I tried again...

Here we go, this is what I remembered. Although my measurements were thrown off and so I had to add more to the sides. So these are my blocks...

(I finished these at night and so there was no sunlight...but I wanted to let Rene see them asap)

So using the fabric that Rene sent...here is what I made

She wanted two blocks so I just doubled the order

The color is really bad, but they turned out very pretty to me

Here is a close up of the cross so you could see the different size strips. It did take quite some time, but I think well worth it in the end. Although looking at it it's not 100% alligned, so on the spur of the moment they can become wonky crosses! :D

Valentine Gifts and Party

I know that it is past Valentine's Day but I wanted to share what our boys did.
This is the Valentine that our boys handed out to their friends. Very cute eh? We got it from Skip to my Lou.
I can't remember where I got this idea from but these are hersey kisses that I made for the teachers. It is chocolate rice krispies. They all loved them (they have told me many times)
Here is Nathan at his school party. I was still pretty sick that day and was "high" on medication but managed to get through it. I was in charge of the group making the "love bug" hats. They kids liked them.
Kimball was so excited that he got to sit with all the "big" kids and do what everyone else was doing.
Now here is Miss Dale helping Kimball color his Valentine Bag. She is so sweet to him!
Here are Nathan and Kimball sitting and waiting for their Valentines to be passed out. Kimball was thrilled to get a few too! I was glad that I was able to get this picture.Nathan was very cute and was trying to help Kimball with EVERYTHING. It was very sweet.

Feburary Round Robin Block

I finished another block last night. This is a Round Robin Block for Feburary, it is Rene's design and I love how pretty and simple it is. I might just make a quilt of these for myself! Here are two of her's and two of mine! *I am making two blocks of everyone's design for myself. I will make a quilt of them put together for me when it is all done. A good way to keep a good record of everything! *

Rene's are the top two and mine are the bottom two

January Quilting Bee Block for Donna

I have finally finished the January Quilting Bee block. I had some trouble to begin with and I cut the material wrong, and by the time I realized my mistake I had already sewed it together! Donna was kind enough to mail me more of her fabric to make her another one. I have finally finished it today! I think it turned out very pretty!
Now I have my Feburary blocks for the Round Robin and Quilting Bee and they are both for Rene!

Crazy Mix Up Quilt DONE!!!

I did finish this quilt on Sunday and washed it on Monday. I also made pillow cases to go with the quilt. I am very pleased with what I ended up with.
I love the back, although the color has faded. I was able to find some fabric that was 108" wide! It was awesome.

I was a little worried when I was outside taking pictures that it might be too small, but when I put it on the bed, it fit perfectly!

I had a left over of the brown plaid that I made large pillow cases with, then I had some squares left over from the quilt that I turned into pillow covers. They are very pretty in my opinion. I finally have my own bed set!
