24th of July

In Utah, the 24th of July is a State holiday. It is the day that the Saints came into the Salt Lake Valley from traveling from Illinois in wagons. We call it Pioneer Day, while Travis would like to call it Mormon Rebellion Day, because it was due to the fact that the early members of the church left the United States. 

We celebrate the day with BBQ, fireworks, parades and family fun. 

We started our day by heading down to Mapleton to watch the hometown parade. It is the perfect size, not to long, not to short and they throw candy.

We had a nice shady spot and we were able to sit and relax

This is a tractor that the owners rigged it so it was a LARGE version of a remote control car. It was really cool

We then headed off to Grandma and Grandpa Walkers for some lunch. Daddy and the boys got into the hot tub and had some fun. After lunch we then went to see Toy Story 3 in 3D. It was a nice movie. 

After the movie we decided to head to IKEA since it was so close. Towards the end the boys had had enough, but in the beginning they really liked trying out the merchandise! 

Kimball I think wants this bed! 

After IKEA the adults (minus me) went to the Salt Lake Bee game. I was going to have Trav take some pictures but he "forgot" the camera! The boys and I went home and had a relaxing evening. It was a fun day. I think my favorite part was spending time with family. I love it when we all get together and spend the day together.
