Making Jam

I learned how to make Jam last week. Believe it or not I didn't know how to make it! I remember my Mom canning some when I was little, but not when I was older. I have ment to learn how for the past 9 years, but just never did.

So our Ward (church group) had a Jam making classes, and I signed up. It is really easy and I can't wait to make more!!
Walmart had their packages of strawberries on sale or a $1 each so I thought, what the heck! In our home we go through TONS of jelly! We love that Peanut Butter and Jelly!
I made one batch and was able to fill 4 pint jars and 1 half pint jar. At the Jam making class, we got 2 half pint jars, after one day we have already finished it!
I still had strawberries left, and I was told that freezer jam is VERY good. If you have the freezer space, it's well worth making! So I had just enough to make a batch of that. I got about 8 cups.
We had about a cup of strawberries left, for his services of smashing my strawberries, I let Travis finish them off! I had to keep snapping at him to keep his hands out while we were cutting and smashing!

I think I would like to make this with my boys. It has a lot of science in it, (which they love) and there are smaller steps that they can help me out with, ie cutting (butter knife), smashing and pouring the ingredients. So if you live in my area, I am more than happy to take ANY fruit off your hands!
